3. How we use your data

We use personal data to:

  • Send campaign updates where you have opted in
  • Process petition signatures and supporter actions
  • Understand how supporters engage with the campaign
  • Respond to enquiries
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Produce internal analysis and aggregate, anonymised reporting

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use it for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects about you.

  • Legitimate interests — for website analytics and security, where our interests do not override your privacy rights.

6. Third parties

We share data only where necessary:

  • Email platform — your name and email will be stored with our email service provider under a data processing agreement.
  • Google Analytics — we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use this site. Data is processed by Google on our behalf. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites using Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
  • Meta Pixel — we use the Meta Pixel to measure the performance of our campaign advertising on Facebook and Instagram. If you have consented, Meta may use this data to show you relevant ads. Meta’s data policy applies to data processed through their platform.
  • Hosting — this website is hosted via 123 Reg, with traffic routed through Cloudflare’s content delivery network. Both operate under appropriate data processing agreements. Cloudflare may process IP addresses and request metadata to provide security and performance services.
  • Legal requirements — we may disclose data to law enforcement or regulators if required by law.

Third parties processing data on our behalf are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.


7. Data retention

  • Supporter and petition data — retained for the duration of the campaign and up to 2 years after its conclusion, or until you request deletion.
  • Email subscribers — retained until you unsubscribe, after which we remove your details within 30 days.
  • Analytics data — retained for up to 26 months.
  • Correspondence — retained for up to 2 years from last contact.

8. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or port your personal data, and to object to its processing. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, email info@futureadvocacy.org. We will respond within one calendar month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.


9. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your data, including encrypted transmission (HTTPS), Cloudflare DDoS and security protection, and access controls. No internet transmission is completely secure — please contact us if you have concerns.


10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top indicates when it was last revised. Continued use of the site after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
